BRANCH stands for:

There are quite a few GREAT organizations in our area that are dedicated to feeding and clothing underprivileged people in our community. We love what they do, and we partner with them in several ways.

We feel that God has called us to a different mission... Our goal is to get eye-to-eye, face-to-face, and heart-to-heart in meaningful, ongoing relationships with families for the purpose of the Gospel.

It is through these relationships that we demonstrate the love of God into the lives of people in our community.

We do this through public school mentors, who are each supported and resourced by life groups. This gives everyone the opportunity to be involved in the life of teenagers, either directly, or indirectly.

The Orchard Church has formed a unique partnership with Clear Creek Middle School here in Gilmer County to identify students and families with specific needs, and to serve them any way we can. We do this through:

  • Mentoring relationships
  • Providing for immediate physical needs (food, clothing as necessary)
  • Providing attendance incentives and rewards
  • Providing character incentives and rewards

Our goal is to demonstrate our relationship with Christ in our relationships with others. We just want to meet needs in the lives of people the way Jesus met needs around him.

If you aren't ready or able to become a mentor in school, you can be part of their support structure. LifeGroups encourage, pray for, and resource the sowers and the soils that they are working with.

Sower of Seeds

Mentors provide their students with an experienced friend who is always ready to help in any number of situations. All it takes is 20 to 30 minutes per week. You interact with your student at the school on a regular basis and be a positive role model as well as a friend and listener. You will also serve as a resource and a guide as you build a relationship with them. We provide all the training and support you will need to be a successful mentor.

Donations

Donated supplies meet immediate physical needs of students and their families. They also reward students for character education and attendance.

Food
meats, vegetables, and other frozen food items are always welcome.

Clothing
We accept donations of all new and "gently used" clothing, shoes, belts, and other items. Some items that are requested by the school are taken directly to the school, and others are taken to a consignment shop that we have also partnered with, and vouchers are issued to help meet specific needs.

Attendance Incentives
These are simple rewards to students who have difficulty with consistent attendance. Any type of small gift card is the best idea (WalMart, fast food, etc.)

Character Education
These are simple rewards that are given to students who are "caught in the act of doing something of good character." These are daily rewards of small candy, then once a month a drawing for larger rewards, which is usually a gift bag with candy, gift cards, snazzy post-it notes, and other items.
How do I Donate items?

Currently, just bring any donations to your LifeGroup leader. If you aren't in a LifeGroup, you can bring them to the worship services on Sundays, and we can get them to our storage facilities.
